Our Academic Vision and Overview

Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu      |     Adorn the bird with feathers and it will fly

From its inception the main aim of Craighead was to provide a ‘liberal education on modern lines as will be best fitted to train the intellectual, artistic and moral faculties, to develop the character and ultimately to produce…capable young women’. Our integration agreement of 1980 goes further to state that ‘from the beginning, emphasis was placed on the teaching of both French and German as well as Art and Music’. Therefore, with this in mind our educational philosophy at Years 9 and 10 is one of providing all students with a broad curriculum.
